Our mission is to share the transformational experience of yoga. We empower you to reach out into your own communities and share the essence of yoga in your own unique way.

 

We are a small, generous company that takes a vested interest in your personal and professional development. We want you to become the teacher you want to become. We don’t do one-size-fits-all trainings and we don’t believe in cookie-cutter yoga teachers. 

Our teacher trainings encourage you to tread your own path, to become the teacher you want to become. Once you’ve found your feet, we’re here to support you on the rest of your journey as you bring yoga into the world.

We take an embodied approach across the whole discipline of yoga. We apply it to anatomy, asana, pranayama, philosophy and even ethics because we believe that experiential study is the most effective way to integrate learning experiences.

 

Embodied practices involve your whole being: 'head-heart-hands'. It's about taking learning off the page, interacting with information beyond the cognitive level and bringing it into the felt experience.

 

So each individual who participates in a learning encounter with us is held as a holistic being, as someone who has capacity for thinking, feeling and acting. This enables you to take what you have discovered off the mat, out of the training, and into your life at large.

We are inspired by our individual interests and passions, and our shared vision for how and where the practices of yoga and embodied movement modalities might make tangible, positive differences in the world.

BEVERLEY NOLAN

Founder and Director of Studies

Beverley is a yoga practitioner with more than 30 years experience of class teaching and more than 10 years experience of teacher training and CPD/IST provision. 

 

Her practice and teaching has shifted from its origins in the Iyengar tradition to embrace an explorative approach that draws on her love and unfaltering interest in experiential anatomy, infant movement development, somatic psychology and the discipline of Authentic Movement.

 

She studies regularly outside the yoga tradition enjoying other movement modalities including BodyMind Centering®, Feldenkrais Method®, Continuum® and 5 Rhythms®.

 

Her most recent studies and experiences have channeled her energies into understanding how embodiment practices including yoga can be made more accessible through integrating Trauma-Informed protocols and how they can successfully migrate into Outreach settings.

TIFFANY THORNE

Senior Tutor & Mentor

Tiffany has been working with Scaravelli-inspired practices for twenty years although her whole life seems to have been lived around yoga.

 

Born to an Iyengar yoga teacher and starting classes at twelve, she developed an early and unusual interest in yoga philosophy and studied it for twelve years at the University of Cambridge.

 

With this grounding in Sanskrit that she continues to explore technically and creatively, she trained to become a Scaravelli-inspired yoga teacher, later also qualifying in teaching Restorative Yoga and Yoga for Pregnancy.

 

She has spent the last few years teaching embodied philosophy on yoga teacher trainings and workshops.

ASHLEY MACDONALD

Senior Tutor & Mentor

Ashley has been practising yoga for over 20 years. Over this period her personal practise has varied in style and form from Ashtanga, Vinyasa flow, and Iyengar to more recent exploration into Somatics and mindful movement. 

 

Ashley has studied with a variety of inspiring teachers including Leslie Kaminoff, Donna Farhi, Simon Low, Elena Brower, Francoise Freedman and David Emerson. Her own practice is an on-going evolution of these influences and she has a desire to continue to develop deeper understanding of human movement and the sensory experience.

 

She also provides yoga and movement support to prisoners and prison guards through her work with the Prison Phoenix Trust. And is building on a specialised focus in Trauma Sensitive Yoga as a current student in the Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga Teacher Training.

TAMARA ASHLEY

Senior Tutor & Mentor

Tamara is a dancer, performance artist, yogi, teacher and researcher.  She is a long term ashtanga practitioner, having practiced on and off since 2001.  She currently teaches beginners yoga, yoga for dancers and vinyasa flow yoga. She also trained as a Pilates instructor in the United States and taught the form for five years and directed the studio programme at Texas Woman's University.

 

Tamara has also practiced the form of contact improvisation since 1996, and has integrated this with studies in BodyMind Centering, developmental movement and somatics, and she recently co-faciliated the UK Contact Improvisation Teacher's Exchange.  

 

She has taught in many universities nationally and internationally, and currently directs the MA Dance Performance and Choreography programme at the University of Bedfordshire, as well as offering a yearly short course in somatic practices for professionals, and yoga for performing artists.

JUDY HIRSH

Guest Tutor & Mentor

Founder of Yoga Headspace, and co-founder of Yoga United, Judy brings a creative mix of yoga-based practices to engage health seekers of all ages, sizes and abilities to tune into their own head space and inner wisdom.

 

She takes yoga, meditation, embodied mindfulness and yoga therapy into health spas, offices, schools, mental health & fertility settings in group and 1-2-1 sessions. 

 

She holds The British Wheel of Yoga teaching diploma, teaches the BWY Foundation course, has studied The Communicating Body yoga therapy with the Life Centre/Biomedical Trust, and is a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist (600hr training).

 

Her teachers include Billy Doyle, Donna Farhi, Judith Lasater, Richard Miller, Michael Lee, and she has been inspired by teachers working in the style of BKS Iyengar, and Vanda Scaravelli. She has completed courses in NLP, Shamanic journeying, and Art Therapy.
