WORKSHOP FOR YOGA PRACTITIONERS | 18 JUL 2020 in LONDON | £100
EMBODIED SANSKRIT: "SEEDS OF EXPERIENCE" WORKSHOP WITH TIFFANY THORNE
A one day dive into the language most associated with yoga lead by our faculty member, Sanskristist and Scaravelli-inspired teacher Tiffany Thorne. "Seeds of Experience" is the beginning of your journey into the embodiment of sound and its evolution into the language of yoga. Familiarise yourself through deep listening, vocalising and moving, and then get out crayons and paper for creating the sounds through the letter shapes. Discover your voice, unlock your authentic self-expression, and experience the power and alignment of the Yoga of Sound.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Unpack verses from the ancient yogic texts, and begin to form the shapes of Sanskrit phonemes to record the sounds of the human voice with written Sanskrit
Learn to pronounce Sanskrit sounds with awareness of the loci of sound production
Access and align the subtle body using sound including the bija mantras associated with the chakras
Understand the embodied philosophy of yoga underlying the Sanskrit language and gain a cultural appreciation of the importance of sound and voice in the history of the language
DATE & VENUE
The workshop will held on Saturday 18th July 2020 between 10.00am and 5.00pm at the Arc Centre in North London.
The venue is easily accessible with good transport routes as well as accommodation options for those that need them. Mats and props are provided.
This workshop is suitable for all but of particular interest to yoga practitioners and teachers wishing to take Sanskrit’s naturally more embodied approach to learning the language of the yoga texts.
WITH TIFFANY THORNE
Sanskrit BA, MA-Phil (Cambridge) DipBWY
Tiffany has been working with Scaravelli-inspired practices for twenty years although her whole life seems to have been lived around yoga: born to an Iyengar yoga teacher and starting classes at twelve, she developed an early and unusual interest in yoga philosophy and studied it for twelve years at the University of Cambridge. With this grounding in Sanskrit that she continues to explore technically and creatively, she trained to become a Scaravelli-inspired yoga teacher.
The workshop is £110. To book your place, please click on the button below or email us on for more information. Bursary applications are welcome. Apply for bursary support here >
