A SOMATIC APPROACH TO PREGNANCY YOGA
This innovative, small-group training (maximum 12) combines yoga and somatic education to investigate the changing female body and the developmental journey of the infant in both a theoretical and experimental way. Ideal for yoga professionals looking to add a perinatal dimension to their teaching.

Understand anatomical and physiological changes occurring during the perinatal period
Discover the baby's developmental movement journey in utero and explore their perspective during yoga practice
Learn to structure and teach safe and effective classes incl. support for labour and birth
Recognise common health matters arising in pregnancy and how to manage them
Consider trauma-sensitive issues including relationship to body, pregnancy and motherhood
This course is designed for teachers with an existing 200 hour yoga teacher training certificate or equivalent. The content assumes you have some experience in anatomy and physiology, class planning and teaching methodologies, as well as some familiarity with yoga history and philosophy.
UNIT 1 ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY
A comprehensive overview of typical changes to the body systems during the perinatal period and insights into common health matters arising, both physical and mental/emotional. An overview of the developmental movement journey of the infant that prepares for birthing.
UNIT 2 PERINATAL PRACTICE
Key considerations about the suitability of Forms and Breathing Techniques during the perinatal period and appropriate adaptations and alternatives.
UNIT 3 PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
Trauma-awareness around physical and psycho-emotional matters. Choosing and structuring content for safe and effective classes. Communicating the benefits of yoga practice through the perinatal period.
DATES & VENUE
The training will be held between Friday 26th February to Tuesday 2nd March 2021 between 10.30am and 5.30pm at The ARC Centre in North London.
The centre is easily accessible with good transport routes as well as accommodation options for those that need them. Mats and props are provided.
Free tea is included on all training days!
STUDY & ASSESSMENT
6 hours of pre-course study including reading and self-reflection assignments. This ensures everyone arrives primed and well prepared

60 minute lesson plan
Video submission of a filmed 60 minute class for feedback on criteria including structure, suitability of content, and inclusivity
Marketing leaflet or website page that communicates clear benefits/limitations of the practice
8 weeks prior to the start date, you'll received the Course Manual and a reading list detailing the texts you'll need to access
Comprehensive course handouts will be provided
You'll need access to a computer, internet, camera, printer, and stationery
Mats and props are provided on trainings days at the ARC Centre.
Beverley and Rachael bring a wealth of yoga and somatic educational experience towards supporting a better understanding of the role of movement and breathing throughout pregnancy, for both woman and infant. Their knowledge and insights also shed light on the significance of movement as a primary means of communication between parents and babies.

Full course fees are £660.
However, if you are registered on our 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training, this could form part of your personal portfolio of Electives Training hours.

We will only refund a whole training fee for fees paid in full prior to the date 8 weeks before your course start date, minus your deposit
