WORKSHOP FOR PRACTITIONERS | 18 JUL 2020 in LONDON | £100
EXPLORE THE LANGUAGE OF YOGA AND THE YOGA OF SOUND
More than learning the language of yogic texts like the Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita, Sanskrit is an exploration of sound in the body. It is a path of perception into our very own embodiment, into the fabric of our tissues and the vibrational matrix of phenomenal existence itself. Discover your voice, unlock your authentic self-expression, and experience the power and alignment of the Yoga of Sound.
A one day dive into the language most associated with yoga lead by our faculty member, Sanskristist and Scaravelli-inspired teacher Tiffany Thorne.
Begin to form the shapes of Sanskrit phonemes to record the sounds of the human voice with written Sanskrit
Learn to pronounce Sanskrit sounds with awareness of the loci of sound production
Access and align the subtle body using sound including the bija mantras associated with the chakras
Understand the embodied philosophy of yoga underlying the Sanskrit language and gain a cultural appreciation of the importance of sound and voice in the history of the language
This course is suitable for all but of particular interest for yoga practitioners and teachers wishing to take Sanskrit’s naturally more embodied approach to learning the language of the yoga texts.
No prior knowledge is necessary, but suggestions for some pre-course investigation of terminology will be provided together with all materials.

Sanskrit BA, MA-Phil (Cambridge) DipBWY
Tiffany has been working with Scaravelli-inspired practices for twenty years although her whole life seems to have been lived around yoga: born to an Iyengar yoga teacher and starting classes at twelve, she developed an early and unusual interest in yoga philosophy and studied it for twelve years at the University of Cambridge. With this grounding in Sanskrit that she continues to explore technically and creatively, she trained to become a Scaravelli-inspired yoga teacher.
