about the course

An exceptional opportunity to explore embryological development and its relationship to our adult body, movement, and sense of self. ACCREDITED with Yoga Alliance (International) as 40 hours of CPD. ISMETA accreditation in progress. Through embodiment practices, somatic psychology, developmental anatomy, and philosophical enquiry we will explore: • Vibration as the origin and fundamental underlying support of all structures and movements. • The embryonic seed layers (endoderm, mesoderm, ectoderm) and their differentiation as front, middle, and back bodies. • Vertical axis support through the notochord, neural tube, and gut tube. • Spiralic development of the limbs as support for movement pathways and integration. • Differentiation and integration of body, feelings and mind through embryological principles. COURSE CONTENT: UNIT 1 Vibration, Sound & Breath:
Exploring the theory of vibration as the origin of structure from perspectives of science and philosophy. Experiential enquiry into how resonance can support embodiment practices and self-enquiry. UNIT 2 Embryological Development: Unfold the earliest appearances of the body: the seed layers of the embryonic disc, the formation of the vertical axis, and the spiral emergence of the limbs. UNIT 3 Form & Movement: Engaging with the embryological concepts of front, middle, and back bodies, the wholeness of the early spine, and spiral lines of force through guided movement enquiries and intuitive explorations. UNIT 4 Embodiment Theory: Investigating the differentiation of ody, mind and emotions through the lens of somatic psychology, as well as examining the three-ness of things in philosophical enquiry. UNIT 5 Professional Practice:
Integrating and applying content to teaching, therapeutic settings, or movement practice. Developing tools for embodied facilitation, sensitive language, and presence-based facilitation. IS THIS COURSE FOR YOU? The course is open to yoga and somatic practitioners and curious movers of all kinds. You don’t need to know anything about embryology in advance. All science and philosophy content will be offered in accessible terms and formats. IMPORTANT NOTE from Beverley: “This work s a somatic enquiry into embryological development. It exists without ideology. Personally, I am pro-choice and committed to creating compassionate, respectful spaces for everyone to explore how early appearances of the body might shed light on our adult form, movement and sense of self.”
