SUNDAY REFLECTIONS

A SHARED JOURNALING PROJECT

PERSONAL SELF-DISCOVERY THROUGH CREATIVE PRACTICES

SUNDAY REFLECTIONS

"Withdrawal can be the very best way of stepping forward", so starts a short essay by David Whyte. That feels particularly pertinent these days when we are required more and more to distance ourselves from others, our shared activities and collaborations. Finding ways to connect authentically, to see and hear others compassionately, if nothing else will illustrate that there is more that unites us than divides us, and from that place of knowing maybe we can fuel ourselves in these uncertain times.

HOW IT WORKS

Inspired by essays, poetry and creative journaling prompts, Sunday Reflections is the yoga of self-enquiry for troubling times.

Sign up to receive a set of resources for personal self-study and join an optional Zoom conversation on Sundays, facilitated by Beverley.

DATES & THEMES

SUNDAY REFLECTIONS :: REST

"To rest is not self indulgent, to rest is to prepare to give the best of ourselves... We are rested when we are a living exchange between what lies inside and what lies outside, when we are an intriguing conversation between the potential that lies in our imagination and the possibilities for making that internal image realign the world." - David Whyte from the essay 'Rest'

Monday 30th Mar 2020

Journaling prompts issued. These will allow us to reflect on our own meaning of rest, gauge the restedness in our body systems, and to discover or nurture what we imagine our Best Self to be.

Sunday 12th Apr 2020

16:30 - 17:30 Online gathering via Zoom

Along with the journaling prompts you are invited to a quiet space on Zoom where reflections can be shared.

SUNDAY REFLECTIONS :: COURAGE

"To be courageous is not necessarily to go anywhere or do anything except to make conscious those things we already feel deeply and then to live through the unending vulnerabilities of those consequences."

This quote, from an essay by poet David Whyte, asks us to think about how we might recognise the feeling of courage in our body, and how and when we bring this into the world. Maybe, if we look at the origins of the word itself, it speaks more about how much of our heart we bring into the world than acts of bravery.

Monday 13th Mar 2020

Journaling prompts issued. These will guide our reflections not only to our own stories of courage, the big and the small, but also the times when we are able to live in a truly heartfelt way and the times when we live less so.

Sunday 26th Apr 2020

16:30 - 17:30 Online gathering via Zoom

Along with the journaling prompts you are invited to a quiet space on Zoom where reflections can be shared.
