THE FUNDAMENTALS OF TRAUMA-INFORMED YOGA & MOVEMENT

Unravel the principles of trauma-sensitivity in relation to yoga and other movement modalities on this stand-alone course. Ideal not only for yoga teachers but also movement facilitators and registered therapists working with individuals that have experienced various forms of trauma. Follow-up with our Level 2 Trauma-Informed Yoga & Movement Training.

Understand the basics of trauma theory

Cultivate a deeper understanding of the mind/body connection 

Recognise the role yoga can play in supporting people with trauma, PTSD, and related mental health difficulties in general yoga and therapeutic movement settings

Separated into two sufficient parts, this course is designed for the following yoga and movement professionals:

  • yoga teachers with an existing 200 hour teacher training certificate or equivalent

  • movement facilitators (eg. dance, somatics) 

  • registered therapists (eg. counsellors, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, body psychotherapists) looking to learn more about how movement/body awareness can support people who have experienced trauma

DATES & VENUE

The training will be held between Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June 2020 between 10.30am and 5.30pm at The ARC Centre in North London.

 

The centre is easily accessible with good transport routes as well as accommodation options for those that need them. Mats and props are provided. 

 

Free tea is included on all training days!

What kind of study is involved and how is the course assessed?

 
 
 

Barefoot Body's teacher training is for those who are curious, open minded and willing to participate fully in a group experience. For those, it is gold.

STUDY & ASSESSMENT

STUDY

  • 6 hours of pre-course study including reading and self-reflection assignments. This ensures everyone arrives primed and well prepared

  • 12 hours of post-course study to complete assessed assignments (this may vary if you choose to not to complete the Trauma-Informed Yoga & Movement Level 2 Training)

ASSESSMENT

  • Assessment includes: 

    • Online worksheets

    • Reading review

    • Self-reflective review of the course materials

 

MATERIALS

  • 8 weeks prior to the start date, you'll received the Course Manual and a reading list detailing the texts you'll need to access

  • Comprehensive course handouts will be provided

  • You'll need access to a computer, internet, camera, printer, and stationery

  • Mats and props are provided on trainings days at the ARC Centre.

Ashley brings her specialism in trauma sensitivity as well as her experience of pedagogy to this trauma-informed yoga and movement training. 

How much does it cost? Are payment plans or bursaries available?

 

Full course fees are £330.

 

However, if you are registered on our 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training, this could form part of your personal portfolio of Electives Training hours. 

 

Bursaries and scholarships are available.

  • £40 fee for installment payment plans

  • Travel, accommodation, and catering/subsistence costs

  • Costs associated with access to a computer, internet connectivity, email account, printer, stationery, and camera for video assignment (contact us for Learning Support)

 

REFUNDS & CANCELLATIONS

  • Your deposit is non-refundable in all circumstances

  • We will only refund a whole training fee for fees paid in full prior to the date 8 weeks before your course start date, minus your deposit

  • No refunds will be offered on training fees on cancellations after this date

  • Fees are non-transferable to another training

Applicants must be able to demonstrate their need for financial support, their dedication to the practice of yoga, as well as present their vision for taking the practice off the mat and out into community/outreach settings.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR THIS COURSE?

Applications welcomed from yoga teachers with a 200H qualification or equivalent; movement facilitators and registered therapists looking to learn more about how movement/body awareness can support clients who have experienced trauma.
