ADVANCE YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF TRAUMA-INFORMED YOGA & MOVEMENT

Understand the basic neurobiology of trauma

Learn the ways in which movement can support trauma and/or be possibly traumatic

Discover how to support students/clients/service users in special settings (including issues of health and safety, supervision or mentorship, self-care/self-awareness and "broken-healer" issues

Separated into two sufficient parts, this course is designed for the following yoga and movement professionals:

  • yoga teachers with an existing 200 hour teacher training certificate or equivalent together with other trauma training or professional experience

  • movement facilitators (eg. dance, somatics) together with other trauma training or professional experience

  • registered therapists (eg. counsellors, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, body psychotherapists) looking to learn more about how movement/body awareness can support people who have experienced trauma.

DATES & VENUE

The training will be held between Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th October 2020 between 10.30am and 5.30pm at The ARC Centre in North London.

 

The centre is easily accessible with good transport routes as well as accommodation options for those that need them. Mats and props are provided. 

 

Free tea is included on all training days!

STUDY & ASSESSMENT

STUDY

  • 6 hours of pre-course study including reading and self-reflection assignments. This ensures everyone arrives primed and well prepared

  • 12 hours of post-course study to complete assessed assignments 

ASSESSMENT

  • Assessment includes: 

    • Online worksheets

    • Reading review

    • Self-reflective review of the course materials

    • Theory review

    • Video submission of a trauma-informed yoga session

 

MATERIALS

  • 8 weeks prior to the start date, you'll received the Course Manual and a reading list detailing the texts you'll need to access

  • Comprehensive course handouts will be provided

  • You'll need access to a computer, internet, camera, printer, and stationery

  • Mats and props are provided on trainings days at the ARC Centre.

However, if you are registered on our 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training, this could form part of your personal portfolio of Electives Training hours.

REFUNDS & CANCELLATIONS

  • Your deposit is non-refundable in all circumstances

  • We will only refund a whole training fee for fees paid in full prior to the date 8 weeks before your course start date, minus your deposit

  • No refunds will be offered on training fees on cancellations after this date

  • Fees are non-transferable to another training

Applicants must be able to demonstrate their need for financial support, their dedication to the practice of yoga, as well as present their vision for taking the practice off the mat and out into community/outreach settings.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR THIS COURSE?

Applications welcomed from yoga teachers with a 200H qualification or equivalent; movement facilitators and registered therapists looking to learn more about how movement/body awareness can support clients who have experienced trauma. All must have other trauma training or professional experience.
