COURSE CONTENT
This course underpins the anatomy and asana content on our 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training & Enrichment Programme. Happily, it's now available outside our trainings. Each month, you will be guided through key areas of anatomy study through online pre-recorded content and with three 60-minute live sessions.
UNIT 1 BUILDING BLOCKS
This unit of study explores the building blocks of our bodies including the yogic concepts of Sthira & Sukha; Cells; Connective Tissue Types; Bones; Muscles
UNIT 2 BREATH
This unit of study investigates the anatomy of the breath including the yogic concepts of Prana & Apana; Diaphragm; Ujjayi Technique; the three main Bhandas
UNIT 3 MUSCLE PHYSIOLOGY
This unit of study explores the physiology of muscles including: Strength; Flexibility; Movement; Joints
UNIT 4 THE SPINE
This unit of study looks at the anatomy of the spine including its: Curves; Disks; Planes of Movement
UNIT 5 THE LOWER LIMBS
This unit of study investigates the lower limbs of the body as well as an asana practice that focuses on these areas including: Foot; Knee; Hips; Pelvis; Walking; Standing Asanas
UNIT 6 THE UPPER LIMBS
This unit of study investigates the upper limbs of the body as well as an asana practice that focuses on these areas including: Hands & Wrists; Forearm; Elbow; Shoulder; Arm Support Asanas
BONUS UNIT CENTRING
This bespoke study area is unique to Barefoot Body and explores the integration of limbs and spine, and a taster of embryological structures for orientation in asana and pranayama practice.
COURSE DATES
This online yoga anatomy course has rolling intakes over the next few years. Once you are enrolled in the course, it will take seven months to complete with one unit of study and three 60-minute live sessions each month.

Who is this course suitable for?
Not just for newbies to anatomy, we welcome back teachers who are looking to refresh their anatomy understanding with a somatic approach, yoga teachers in training, and yoga therapists in training. You don't have to want to be a teacher, but it is a great platform into training if you wanted to travel in this direction in the future.
STUDY
& MATERIALS
There is a total of 41 hours of online study and live sessions spread over 7 months. Each month that breaks down into one unit of the online course materials (3-4 hours) and 3 live 60-minute online sessions. You might expect to dedicate around 6-8 hours a month to study.

Tiffany is a Senior Tutor on the Barefoot Body faculty with expertise in history, philosophy and Sanskrit.
Are there any prerequisites?
This course is open to anyone that has a minimum of six months consistent yoga practice. It is also suitable for any yoga teachers and yoga therapists in-training wishing to dive into the fundamentals of yoga anatomy.
